As Simple As It Gets!

There’s a new kid on the photo-sharing block. Say hello to Yogile. (Luckily for me this isn’t a podcast because I have no idea how to pronounce Yogile.) If you thought it was easy to share photos before… you won’t believe how easy it is now! This is one of those ideas that is so sublimely simple you say to yourself, “Now why didn’t I think of that!”

With Yogile you can set up public or private photo albums. Each album gets a unique URL and email address. Share those with your friends and family and now any of them can easily view or add images. They don’t even need to sign in or open an account of their own! Photos can be uploaded via the website or sent by email. It’s super simple.

An example use case from Yogile is…

Take a wedding for example. Dozens of attendees take their own photos, all from different cameras and angles. While you might try asking everyone for their shots afterward, Yogile offers a smart alternative by giving everyone your customized album URL or e-mail address.

When you visit the site, signup is easy.

Just enter an email address and password to create an album. You can add a password to the album to make it private. You could also choose to have a public album that anyone could view or add images to.

When you create an album it receives a unique name. Unfortunately it will be something like fk5pji8x but you can easily change that during the creation process or anytime afterward by clicking the click to edit link on the page.

Once the album is there you, or any of your visitors, can use the onsite uploader.

If you prefer, photos can be emailed to your album using the unique email address for that album. The subject of the email becomes the title while the body text of the message becomes the description. In fact, if you have already set up a direct to email export in your Lightroom catalog you can send images that way.

There is an option available for each album to list it in the public album space. You can even have an email sent to you whenever anyone adds an image to one of your albums.

Yogile has all the expected features of a great photo-sharing site. Images can be viewed in various grids or individually. You can watch a slideshow of an album. Photos can be downloaded. There is a commenting system built in for each image. Links to albums or individual photos can be easily shared. It’s extremely simple and very flexible.

So what does all of this cost you say? How does FREE work for you? Yes, FREE! I told you it was simple. Free accounts are allowed 100MB of uploads per month. Each month that gets reset. Beyond that there are no restrictions. They do offer a subscription model for $24.95 per year which will allow unlimited uploads.
