I'm running v2.3 and "Control-Enter" (PC) starts the slide show from the first selection, but it continues playing all the images contained in the collection that I'm in, regardless of the ones I've selected. Still, very cool command, thank you!!
  • Thanks Paul!

I forgot to mention that the impromptu slideshow command uses whatever the settings are in your Slideshow module. If you check there and look at the toolbar it probably says USE: ALL FILMSTRIP PHOTOS. Click on the double arrow to the right of that and change it to SELECTED PHOTOS. Then just your selection will play in the slideshow.

    Sorry about that!

Tried that, doesn't work. If I select some images and hit impromptu slide show only the selected images play. This is correct. But if I add or remove any images from the selection, and then play the slide show the changes are not recognized. The only way I can apply the change is to go into the slide show module, then without doing anything there, go back to library and hit the impromptu button. Now the revised selection plays properly. This is silly. It worked fine in v1, but now it does not.Or am I doing something wrong? Use only selected is checked in the slide show module. VERY annoying and time wasting as it is now.

Forgot to mention that I am working from the filmstrip in the library module, not any collections. I hope I don't have to make a collection every time I want an impromptu slide show, that would be a real waste of time.
  • Hi Barry!

You don't have to make collections just for an impromptu slideshow. However, it does appear that something got broken along the way and LR now no longer recognizes changes in the selection you make in the filmstrip. This is indeed unfortunate as the impromptu slideshow was a very useful feature.

I am going to file a bug report and suggest you do the same. Perhaps Adobe can take a look at it before the next release. You can file a bug report at http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?n...

    Hi
Glad to see it's not "pilot error" and somebody else has the same problem. I also find that if I switch image source folders the program gets confused. I did submit a report to Adobe. I hope they at least look at this issue. The impromptu show is great for fast presentation at the kind of events I photograph and is very useful for wedding guys too. I also use this feature for point of sale presentations at location portrait sessions so I hope they fix this issue. Personally I think "use selected" should be the default. Anyway let's hope it gets fixed soon.
Meanwhile the workaround seems to make a quick collection. When you add or delete images from it the show recognizes the changes. But this extra step is a pain and a time waster.
